My Big Fat Experiment: Fat Makes You Fat, Right?

Posted by Lisa Wilson CHC on Wed, May 27, 2015

Is it really possible to grow a 6 pack of abs and still eat butter? I had to find out.

November 2013: I sat in my NYC hotel room looking into the mirror. I felt swollen in my jeans as my muffin-top was puffing out of them. It was actually difficult to zip them but I squeezed in anyway. It was time to start getting ready for a formal, black tie event. I was not feeling pretty. In my head I thought, "So I guess this is 45"...argh.
Early February, while hosting doctor day at the Raw Living Expo, in Los Angeles, I met a handful of physicians that looked amazing in their 50's and 60's. Re-inspired, I returned home with a new commitment to hit the gym for 3 full hours every single day. I was faithful to this for 3 months. Guess what? I got bigger, not better. I started to get some joint and back injuries too, due to my lack of recovery and over-exercising. I had to start seeing a chiropractor and I was now taking anti-inflammatory supplements such as MSM and bromelian. So that was lousy. I was no better off than before this experiment and had wasted a lot of time.
Plan #2: Abandon plan #1 and start incorporating healthy fats, including raw grass fed butter and ghee. Start Intermittent Fasting regularly and cut back on my exercise. I was skeptical of this plan, but kept going. My only regret is not taking photos of my puffy belly in the hotel room that night, because the results are difficult to believe.

Can We Eat Certain Foods to Prevent Cancer? The Science is Here

Posted by Lisa Wilson CHC on Wed, Nov 13, 2013

You see, once a disease is here and in the advanced stages, the 'cure' becomes a much bigger challenge.  So, what IF we could go back and stop this abnormal angiogenesis, before it gets out of control.

First, what is angiogenesis?

Angiogenesis:  is the physiological process through which new blood vessels form from pre-existing vessels. Angiogenesis is a normal and vital process in growth and development, as well as in wound healing and in the formation of granulation tissue. However, it is also a fundamental step in the transition of tumors from a benign state to a malignant  one, leading to the use of angiogenesis inhibitors in the treatment of cancer. The essential role of angiogenesis in tumor growth was first proposed in 1971 by Judah Folkman, who described tumors as "hot and bloody."  ~wikipedia

Basically:  Too many blood vessels can spur tumor formation and growth.

Here are the million dollar questions:

1.  Could the answer to cancer be preventing angiogenesis?

2.  Can we beat cancer at its own game, so it can never become dangerous?

3.  Can this be a way for people who have already conquered cancer to keep it from coming back?

So, let's see what we can add to the diet to naturally contribute to the halting of those blood vessels. Can we EAT to starve cancer?  The answer may be YES & now science shows us HOW!

Coconut Oil, a "Good" Fat

Posted by Lisa Wilson CHC on Mon, Nov 04, 2013

Is coconut oil an amazing "miracle food"?

Might coconut oil be the missing ingredient for people with heart disease, obesity, Alzheimer's, & other cognitive brain issues?

**One thing I have noticed in the years of working with thousand & thousands of people is the need for medium chain fatty acids.  Whenever I have a client with cognitive brain issues, the very 1st addition I suggest to be added to the diet, is COCONUT OIL!  These MCT's (medium chain  triglycerides) get the brain cells communicating.  So is this a great thing to add to your diet.

What Can Digestive Enzymes Do for You?

Posted by Lisa Wilson CHC on Wed, Oct 09, 2013

Did you know that according to TIME magazine, 97% of Americans can not remember the last time they ate a salad?

As we age, typically, our bodies produce 13% fewer enzymes than the decade before. Yikes !!

Sort of explains why we are enzyme deficient, right?

Your body has many types of digestive enzymes. RAW food is abundant in digestive enzymes.

Enzymes help break the food down so we can actually use the nutrients in the food.
