Metabolic Syndrome Criteria...Is this You?

Posted by Anita Capizzi RN, CHC on Wed, Dec 26, 2012

I want to share with you what I have been up to lately!

I’ve been helping people with pre-diabetes and Type II diabetes to get their blood sugar levels to come down through diet and lifestyle changes.

Deconstructing Diabetes is a 3 month diet and lifestyle program developed for those people with metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and/or Type II diabetes.

Sometimes we need to hear information more than once or twice to get it to sink in.

So, here’s a recap:

Do you have any of the following?

Waist measurement of > 35 for women

                               > 40 for men

Triglyceride level  > 150 mg/dl

HDL level     < 40 for men

                 < 50 for women

Blood pressure > 130/85

Fasting blood glucose > 100 mg/dl

If you answered “yes” to 3 or more of the above questions ( or if you are taking medications for 3 or more of the above conditions )  then you meet the criteria for metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance according to leading researchers and physicians.

Metabolic syndrome is implicated as a causative factor in chronic diseases like heart disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, dementia and cancer. Many chronic diseases are exacerbated by poor diet and lifestyle choices.

When we know better, we can do better and start to turn ourselves around!

Stay tuned for details on another upcoming FREE talk about metabolic syndrome/insulin  resistance and the steps you can take to reverse the trajectory towards Type II diabetes. This talk will further explain my Deconstructing Diabetes diet and lifestyle 3 month program.
