Anita's Healthy Tips

Do we need to experience hard times to create stress in our lives? No, we don’t...some of us anitas_healthy_tipsdo a good job of that all by ourselves regardless of what’s going on in the world around us!

We stress about how we look, how we don’t know what we should eat, how we don’t have any “down” time, how we haven’t been to the gym in a while, how cluttered the kitchen counter is, blah, blah, blah...

What if we were to understand that the road to wellness is paved with attention to our thoughts?

It’s not all about the broccoli, folks!

Deepak Chopra says (and I paraphrase) that our immune system is always eavesdropping in on our thoughts. The negative ones create a stress response in our bodies on a cellular level. If we experience chronic states of stress in our lives that means we will have reduced immune function which can lead to disease. Some stressors we can’t avoid, but we need to watch out for the self -induced kind.

The thoughts that we need to be aware of are the ones that don’t serve to uplift us. I know someone who wore a rubber band around his wrist and every time he thought negatively about himself or his situation, he snapped the band. He wanted to track his awareness and change his behavior at the same time.

Hello Gorgeous!

Our self talk starts first thing in the morning when we look in the mirror. What do you say to yourself? Hello gorgeous?? Or ughh! Which one sets the tone for a great day? Change it up and choose words that are positive. It gets easier when you realize that you are contributing to your own health. And if it makes you laugh, all the better!

We all talk to ourselves (whether we are aware of it or not) and when it’s positive, it makes all the difference in how we feel and how we relate to others. Our stress response is lessened and we are on the road to wellness. Observe yourself as you go through your day and look for situations where you can change your words to promote your own health!
