How often do you put off doing what you know is right for your body?
All the time? Some of the time?
There’s a chorus from a Paul Simon song that goes like this: “How long you think that you can run that body down? How many nights you think that you can do what you’ve been doooooin’? Whoooo? Now who you foolin?”
What does it mean? It means that things catch up with us. It means that we can’t just eat whatever is fast, cheap and easy, take a multivitamin and call it a day! Whole, preferably organic, nutrient dense foods that don’t have an ingredient list - that’s what makes us thrive. Processed food may start out with whole food but after it gets refined, heated, added to, and processed some more, it hardly resembles the real wheat or corn or chicken it was in the beginning! And it certainly doesn’t nourish us like the real thing.
Real food from nature and not from a box or a bag is what we need for optimal health. Our bodies instinctively know how to absorb the fiber, good fats, vitamins and minerals that are in abundance in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. That’s what is right for our bodies.
Real food. Real health.
Fake food......not so much.
If you were wondering about the tune, it’s called “Run That Body Down”. Have a listen or a re-listen, I think you’ll like it!
