We live in a toxic world. detox_nutrition_juice_AdobeStock_111364216.jpeg

Through hundreds of thousands of years, our bodies have developed systems to handle these toxins. These systems have relied on the ability to eat foods that helped us eliminate toxins, drink water that helped to flush them out, and as hunter gatherers move away from these toxins when all else had failed.

In our modern world, we are faced with keeping our bodies clean and functional without the advantages of nutrient dense foods, healthy mineral rich water, and it is impractical to be able to relocate at will.

These changes may increase the burden on the body to stay clean, functional and avoid disease. Finding ways to adapt are more important than ever before if we are to maintain our health.

To add insult to injury, our environment has changed dramatically. Many new stressors have been introduced to our environments so quickly that our bodies have not had a chance to adapt.

Thousands of man-made chemicals have found their way into our foods, personal care products and clothing. We are barraged with industrial heavy metals in our air, water, foods, and medicines. We eat “foods” and genetically modified plants. We swim in a sea of ionizing radiation from electronic devices that causes oxidative stress in our bodies. We have adopted a lifestyle of ignoring stress and view “toughing it out” as a character strength.

What You Can Do to Reduce Your Toxic Load

The good news in all of this gloom and doom is that the body is incredibly resilient! If the toxic assaults on the body are reduced to a point that our systems can handle them, then health and balance can be restored.

At National Integrated Health Associates, we address restoring health through a combination of education, guidance, supplementation, motivation and intervention. Through at home strategies, health coaching, spa modalities and medical/dental support, we have seen people reclaim balance and lead healthier lives.
