How do I know if I could benefit from Colon Hydrotherapy?

If you experience any of the following, colon hydrotherapy could be right for you:

Constipation, diarrhea, bloating, gas, candida, irritable bowel disease, brain fog, chronic pain, fatigue, auto-immune disease, hormonal imbalances, allergies, toxicity or any diseases related to the body’s exposure to or overload of toxins, compromised immune system or malabsorption of vitamins and nutrients.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Posted by on Fri, Mar 16, 2012

Sadly, colorectal cancer has become so popular that it has earned its own National Awareness Month. Among the cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is now the SECOND leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. [according to the Center for Disease Control]

We agree that early detection is the best means of increasing the survival rate of colorectal cancers.

Even more importantly, we believe that maintaining proper bowel health is fundamental to preventing this disease.

What is proper bowel health?

A Chiropractor Can Fix That Neck Pain

Posted by on Wed, Mar 14, 2012

Recently Dr. Mercola published an article, Chiropractors and Exercise are Better than Drugs Says New Study, which talks about neck pain.

I have been a chiropractor for over 12 years and have seen every type of chronic pain that a person can have, including neck pain.

What is amazing about the original article Dr. Mercola is referencing is that it was researched and funded by NIH (National Institutes of Health) and the medical journal, Annals of Internal Medicine.  Mainstream medical establishments are showing you that drugs work little to not at all with chronic neck pain! Unfortunately, the United States has become dependent on medications as our standard answer to most any pain problem. It is not surprising to see an elderly person on 10-12 medications, but are they getting better?  Not only are they taking a lot of medications but they are sedentary and not living full lives because of chronic pain.  Yet in China you see the elderly doing Tai Chi in the park and taking little medication.  Why? Different cultures, different mindsets, different medicine.

Spring Cleaning is Not Just for Houses!

Posted by on Tue, Mar 13, 2012

Early Spring has begun in the Washington metro area. Temperatures are rising and the threat of a snow fall is diminishing.

Lighten Up with FRESH foods!

The change in season should also bring about a change in the types of food we eat. Winter is a time for warming foods like soups, stews and casseroles. Spring lends itself to lighter fare that helps the body to cleanse and rejuvenate itself ~ vegetables, lean proteins, leaves and fruits.

The body cleanses or goes through a detoxification process via the liver, lungs, kidneys, bowel, lymph system and skin on a daily basis. We can help that process along in several different ways, but most important, in my view,  is by taking out the foods that don’t serve us (processed food) and by including the foods that our bodies respond to in a favorable way (real foods).

Are You Concerned About Mercury Fillings in Your Mouth?

Posted by on Mon, Mar 12, 2012

Mercury Amalgam Fillings
Recently the Dr. Oz show featured Dr. Joseph Mercola D.O., discussing the dangers of "silver" mercury amalgam fillings, which contain 50% mercury:

The biological dentists at NIHA have been aware of the possible dangers of mercury amalgams, or fillings, for over 30 years and have not used these toxic materials in our "mercury free, mercury safe" practice since then. Biological dentists respect that the mouth is an integral part of the entire body, and use biocompatible dental materials so that dental treatments impact the rest of the body as little as possible.

Estrogen Dominance Doesn't Mean What You Think

Posted by on Mon, Mar 05, 2012

Many women have heard the term ‘estrogen dominance’ (ED) but are not sure of the meaning.

Estrogen Dominance is a term every woman should be familiar with. PMS, infertility, post menopausal symptoms, and breast cancer often relate to ED.  Estrogen Dominance doesn’t mean that a woman is high in estrogen. Rather, it means that the estrogenic effects are stronger than the (counterbalancing) progesterone hormone balancing effects. If we think of the analogy of the body as a car, the estrogen would be the accelerator (stimulant) and the progesterone  (calmer) would be the brakes. We could have too little ‘accelerator’ function and still be crashing into cars because our ‘brakes’ are even weaker.

DEFINITION: Estrogen and Progesterone work with each other either as opposites or as complementing hormones. Estrogen is a stimulant (anxiety, insomnia, cellular proliferation at breast, uterus etc) and Progesterone is a calmer (patience, sleep, inhibits cell division). They also complement each other (Estrogen decreases bone loss while Progesterone promotes bone growth) and  testing and balancing hormones is important as we age and hormone levels fluctuate.

What is Estrogen Dominance?
